Bothersome

If it could bring you to tears, send a pain in your heart, keep you awake at night…it is bothersome.

It bothers…

…when a mother constantly compares her life with that of her child.

…when past success remain unacknowledged and present failures blatantly magnified.

…when parents judge the child’s status as never enough.

…when an ex-flame’s revelation brings out extinguished questions back to life.

…when old hurts, might-have-beens prop out in an opportune time.

…when a husband’s success glares at the wife’s lack of it.

…when all sacrifices are overshadowed by the shortcomings.

…when career choices become a big regret.

…when supposed friends forget and flee when needed most.

…when one can no longer play god with one’s life

The event must be recent.  Haven’t even heard of it.  Has been occupying thoughts and dreams lately.  Maybe, thoughts lead to reality.  Haven’t expected it.  It happened sooner than expected.  Was the first to do so, why wouldn’t it happen to you? Was expecting for a fallback plan?  Was still expecting a second time?  In a very distant future… The image stunned.  The revelation stung.  The comparisons started.  The questions resurfaced. Why still affected?
